Visual of my PBWiki Summer Camp Wiki: Owlsnest

Explanation of how I chose to set up my wiki & its structure

The Owlsnest wiki is designed to inspire teachers to not look back for the one room school,

but to look forward to a learning environment with an infinite number of rooms .  This is where

we work collaboratively to expand our understanding of the teaching practices that will establish

our students in their century, the 21st Century.

I designed the structure specifically to support a professional development course I am

teaching this October which includes the use of Web 2.0 tools.  I structured it to have a framework

to support that course, to demonstrate how we can incorporate our creativity, and to

allow users to look back at it for future use.  However, as I will be working with tech shy

professionals, I also worked to make the structure recognizable and simple so as not to discourage

new users.

If you are interested in more information on my wiki's structure, please listen to the Jing video.

PS:  I am not working on a student wiki to allow students to talk back and forth about Math.

I intend to fold it into a Safari Live project where students can exchange ideas and

learning with students in another state.

A footnoted quote:

"We can stand to the side," he said, "... or we can get into

the middle of it ... and help reinvent education based on

new forms of knowledge and  learning."[4]
